Progress Over Perfection: Your Greatest Creative Ally

Hi Reader,

Have you ever held back on sharing something you’ve created because it wasn’t perfect yet?

As a creative, I know that feeling all too well. For years, I believed perfection was the goal—waiting for the perfect moment, the perfect render, the perfect skill level before I allowed my work to see the light of day. But here’s what I’ve learned: perfection isn’t the friend we think it is.

In fact, it’s the enemy.

Perfection has a way of whispering doubts:
“You’re not good enough yet.”
“People won’t value your work unless it’s flawless.”
“Better to wait until it’s perfect before you even start.”

And here’s the catch: perfection doesn’t just hold you back; it stops you from starting at all.

But here’s where progress steps in—and progress is where the magic really happens.

Progress celebrates every small step forward. It’s not about being flawless; it’s about showing up, trying, learning, and improving with each attempt. Progress reminds you that no one is born a master and that growth is always a process.

And that perfect result you’re chasing? It doesn’t come from waiting—it comes from doing. From consistent effort. From finishing projects, no matter how imperfect, and letting those experiences fuel your growth.

Even in 3D animation, your first attempts won’t be perfect—and they shouldn’t be. Those rough first renders, the awkward timing, the experiments that don’t quite land—that’s where the learning happens. Each project builds a foundation for the next.

So, if you find yourself paralyzed by the idea of perfection, here’s my advice:
Let go of it. Start anyway. Focus on finishing something today, no matter how “imperfect” it feels.

Done is better than perfect because done teaches you. Done builds momentum. Done gets you closer to the skills and results you’re dreaming of.

Perfection is subjective. Progress, though—that’s undeniable.

Remember this: consistent progress leads to greatness. Your creative journey isn’t about getting it right on the first try—it’s about taking steps forward every day and trusting that growth will come.

So today, Reader, take that step. Start. Finish. Celebrate the progress you’ve made—and keep going!!

And as always, stay healthy, safe, and progressing!

Happy Creating,
Jasmine

P.S. If 3D animation is your goal, know this: your first render won’t be perfect. But with progress, each iteration will take you closer to your vision. Trust the process—you’ve got this!

This tradition always brings me back to why I entered this industry in the first place — the simple joy of making things look good. And that part has never changed. What was...
